The Confederation of African football (CAF) have said that they are in obliviousness of any probe against Chipolopolo fans–for displaying a political banner, during their 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup qualifier tie away in Nigeria at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Competitions Division manager Ahmed Reda Salim exclusively said in an E-mail that such a case is not yet on their table.
Zambian and international online publications are reporting that CAF and FIFA jointly decided to probe the Zambian fans over the misconduct. Apparently, the African football government is in blackout.
“We haven’t received anything from FIFA regarding that matter. Usually in such disciplinary cases, FIFA sends us the decisions after the conclusion of their investigations.
“We will get back to you in case of any updates,” Salem said.
CAF media director Junior Binyam, has equally echoed Salim statement. He said that he was in obliviousness too.
Speaking from Cairo at CAF headquarters, the Cameroonian seasoned Journalist elaborated that initially FIFA would notify his institution if such an investigation is taking place.
“I’m not aware. It is a World Cup qualifier and in case investigation is conducted it will be made by Fifa”, he said.
