CAF  President Ahmad Ahmad arrived in Yaounde   Cameroon on Monday night onboard a private jet accompanied by Legend  Samuel Eto’o Fils , CAF 2nd Vice President Constant Omari, and the chairman of the normalisation Committee Me Happi.

President Ahmad is scheduled to meet with  President of the Republic of Cameroon Paul Biya today  Tuesday, October 2,2018 at the Presidential palace in regards to the much talked about TOTAL Africa Cup of nations to be hosted by Cameroon in 2019.

Last week in a CAF Executive committee meeting in Sharm Al Sheikh,Egypt the uncertainty on the safety of Cameroon’s 2019 Afcon hosting rights continued with CAF saying they will make their final position in November.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF)  stated that they are not satisfied with Cameroon’s preparation to stage the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals to be held from June 15 to July 13 2019.

It is therefore understood that President Biya used the close proximity and friendship between President Ahmad and legend Samuel Eto to organise for the emergency meeting with Eto acting as the go-between to try and salvage the situation for Cameroon host of the tournament.

President Biya dispatched a private jet to bring the CAF President to Yaounde for the meeting that is expected to calm the country and to give CAF the assurance that indeed Cameroon will meet all specifications to host the tourney.

Last week in CAF released a statement Regarding the Total Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2019, the delegation for the last inspection visit reported on the progress of works. A visual report revealed a significant delay as far as the delivery of infrastructure is concerned,” stated CAF  in a statement.

“The final decision will be taken in late November after the last inspection visit which will involve audit firm Roland Berger. Beforehand, a joint Caf and Fifa Committee will travel to Cameroon in October to study security issues.”

Cameroon’s capacity to host an expanded 24-team tournament has always been under severe scrutiny after they were initially handed rights to organise an AFCON  with 16 participants until it was raised to 24 teams comprising 6 groups.

The trip is the first for CAF President Ahmad to Cameroon. since his election when he dethroned the Prince of Garoua Issa Hayatou who hails from Cameroon
