The procedure for the draw of the group phase of the Total CAF Confederation Cup 2018 has been finalized following the approval of the CAF Interclubs Committee.

 

The draw will take place on Saturday, 21 April at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt at 12H00 GMT.

 

The qualified teams were ranked according to their performances in the last five editions of the CAF Interclubs competitions (2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013).

 

For the Total CAF Champions League, the points allotted are winner – 6, runner-up-5, semi-final – 4, quarterfinal – 3, third in group – 2 and fourth in group – 1, multiplied by a co-efficient of 5,4,3,2,1 for the editions 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013 respectively.

 

And for the Total CAF Confederation Cup, the points system was decided as follows: winner – 5, runner-up-4, semi-final – 3, quarterfinal – 2, third in group – 1 and fourth in group – 0.5, multiplied by a co-efficient of 5,4,3,2,1 for the editions 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013.

 

From above, USM Alger (Algeria), Al Hilal (Sudan), AS Vita (DR Congo) and Enyimba (Nigeria) were seeded in Pot 1.

 

Pot 2 has the other 12 qualified teams: CARA (Congo), ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire), Williamsville A.C (Côte d’Ivoire), Al Masry (Egypt), Aduana Stars (Ghana), Gor Mahia (Kenya), Djoliba (Mali), RS Berkane (Morocco), Raja Club Athletic (Morocco), UD Songo ( Mozambique), Rayon Sport (Rwanda), Young Africans (Tanzania)

 

The 16 teams shall be distributed into four groups: A, B, C, D, starting with Pot 2.

 

The team drawn first will go directly to group A. A draw will be done to determine its position (A1, A2, A3 or A4)

The team drawn second will go directly to group B. A draw will be done to determine its position (B1, B2, B3 or B4)

The team drawn third will go directly to group C. A draw will be done to determine its position (C1, C2, C3 or C4)

The team drawn fourth will go directly to group D. A draw will be done to determine its position (D1, D2, D3 or D4)

The same process will be repeated until the completion of the teams of Pot 2.

 

For Pot 1, the team drawn first will go directly to group A. A draw will be done to confirm its position.

The team drawn second will go directly to group B. A draw will be done to confirm its position.

The team drawn third will go directly to group C. A draw will be done to confirm its position.

The team drawn fourth will go directly to group D. A draw will be done to confirm its position.
