The Confederation of African Football (CAF ) have released all four pots ahead of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers draw.
CAF’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers draw is set to take place on Tuesday, January 21st at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Cairo, Egypt.
All 40 participating countries have been placed in four different pots depending on their most recent FIFA World Ranking.
2019 AFCON finalists Algeria and Senegal were placed in the first pot alongside African powerhouses, most notably Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
The likes of Ivory Coast, South Africa and Burkina Faso were placed in pot two. While most countries that had to participate in the first qualifying round are placed in pots three and four.
The competing countries will be divided into 10 groups made up of four national teams. Then the leaders of each group will qualify to the third round where they will be drawn into five home-and-away ties. The winners of each tie will advance to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
