Nigerian league defending champions Enugu Rangers have sacked head coach Imama Amapakabo following a series of poor results with the 2:2 draw against Zambian league side Zesco United bringing an end to his reign at the club.
Speaking to Goal.com the clubs media officer Foster Chime confirmed the developments, revealing that the decision was made following the clubs disastrous campaign in the league and to help them from further collapse.
“I want to inform you that Rangers have told Imama to step aside because of our unimpressive results which reached its height with our 2-2 draw at home to Zesco
United, he will be served his letter on Monday morning. The management of the club had a crucial meeting after the game on Sunday and it was there the decision was taking.”
Imama led the the Flying Antelopes to winning silverware last season ending their 32 year wait for a league title.
Enugu Rangers who are currently bottom of the NPFL league standings with 13 points from 14 outings will face Zesco United in the second leg of the CAF confederation cup playoff round at the Levi Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola, Zambia on Sunday.
