CAF has accepted Gor Mahia’s request to shift the Confederation Cup Group “D” match against USM Alger from Machakos’ Kenyatta Stadium to newly refurbished Kasarani Stadium.
The Match Day 2 fixture is scheduled for next week Wednesday from 7PM local time.
“The African Football Confederation has just accelerated Gor Mahia’s request to receive USM Alger at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi,” the Algerian club said.
The game was initially booked at Kenyatta Stadium, but Gor requested the relocation to the more spacious and secure Kasarani stadium that has been undergoing a facelift specifically on the playing surface.
The stadium’s capacity is 60,000 seats.
Kenyatta, 50km away from Nairobi, hosted the past Gor’s home matches, but the stadium has lately been overused and is in bad shape especially with the rains that have made the pitch unplayable.
Before the big clash, Gor will take on visiting English Championship side Hull City at the same venue Sunday in a high profile friendly.
Gor opened their Group D campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Rayon Sports of Rwanda.
USMA on the other hand thumped Yanga SC of Tanzania 4-0 at home in their first match.
