TP Mazembe have been training in Morocco since Monday 23rd for the CAF Confederations Cup finals first leg against Supersport United on 19th November.
The team remained in Rabat after last weekend’s semi-final second leg match against hosts FUS Rabat to take advantage of the local facilities to prepare for the finals away from “any distractions.”
The five times African champions edged FUS 1-0 on aggregate to book the finals berth.
“The players are very well integrated in the atmosphere of the Moroccan capital,” a club statement says.
The team has been horning their skills at Maamoura National Center run by the Royal Moroccan Federation.
Mazembe have vowed to defend the title they bagged for the first time last year under French coach Hubert Velud.
Former player and 2010 African Champions League winner with the Ravens Pamphile Mihayo will guide them in this year’s two-legged finals with the first encounter at the Stade Mazembe, Lubumbashi.
Mihayo has proved a worthy replacement since taking over from Velud who left for Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel early this year after failing to reach the African Champions League groups stage.
Mihayo’s aim in Morocco is to get his charges in “a very good state of mind and to work on game discipline.”
But first, the Ravens will return for the 2017/2018 Linafoot kickoff on 15th November.
Supersport in the meantime will continue with their campaign in the Premier Soccer League with an away match against Bloemfontein Celtic at Molemela Stadium Saturday.
The coach Eric Tinkler’s side beat Tunisia’s Club Africain 4-2 on aggregate to reach the finals for the first time.
The “Matsatsantsa” met twice with Mazembe at the groups phase – managing a barren draw in Pretoria in the first leg before coming from behind to draw 2-2 in the return match in Lubumbashi.
