KCCA coach Mike Mutebi has hailed “great experience” his charges picked from the CAF Confederations Cup campaign despite group exit last night.

The Ugandans finished third in group A after losing their final match 4-0 away to Club Africain at Stade Olympique Du Rades.

Nonetheless, Mutebi holds his boys gave a good account of themselves and picked vital lessons moving forward.

“It was a great experience to us because no one in the team had played up to this level. It is sad that we bow out in such a manner,”

“The future is bright for us because we are an emerging force on the continent but we were unable to weigh ourselves against some of the best teams on the continent. I believe this will help us become stronger,” Mutebi told kccafc.co.ug.

He will not lose sleep over the cricket score-line saying experience played a key role.

“I wouldn’t worry that we were outplayed. I think experience played to the fore, they knew how to handle themselves in such situation and they edged us on that.”

KCCA will play in the CAF Champions League next year as Uganda Champions and Mutebi believes that armed with more experience and knowledge; they will give it a better stab.

“We have a young side with an average age of 24. I think the first attempt was not disappointing, we can only improve on the next attempt.”

In total the team played 12 games on the continental scene, winning 5, drawing once and losing six. They netted 12 times and conceded 18 goals.
