Smouha and Zesco United battled to 1-1 draw in the CAF Confederations group C match played at Borg El Arab Stadium, Alexandria Egypt Friday.
Smouha exits the championship in the penultimate round, while Zesco go level on seven points with Al Hilal El Obied and Clube Recreativo Deportivo do Libolo who face-off tomorrow.
Yasser Ibrahim turned Jesse Were’s strike into his own net to give the visitors, who were lukewarm in the match the lead.
However, Smouha – chasing nothing less than a win to keep their quarters dream alive, managed to level from the spot through Banou Diawara in the 88th minute.
Zesco will host Al Hilal in their last group match next week, while Smouha will travel to Mozambique to take on Recreativo in the dead rubber match.
