CAPS United condemned Zamalek SC to the bottom of the CAF Confederation Cup group B with a well-deserved 3-1 win at National Sports Stadium Harare Sunday.

A brace from Abbas Amidu and a goal Ronald Pfumbidzai handed the five times champions back to back defeat in the group.

The win was a sweet revenge for CAPS who were beaten 2-0 by Zamalek in the first leg of the encounter in Egypt.

The White Knights came into the match against the back drop of a 2-0 loss away to USM Alger, while the Green Machine were smarting from a 4-2 hiding in the hands of Al Ahli Tripoli.

Pfumbidzai struck from close range to open the scoring in the 31st minute; however, Nigerian striker Stanley Ohawuchi restored parity in the 44th minute for a 1-1 score into the breather.

Ronald Chitiyo set up Amidu for his first of the game in the 75th before grabbing a brace from a beautiful counter attack in the added minutes of the second half for the final 3-1 score.

CAPS move to third in the group standings with six points – one better than Zamalek.

They face joint leaders USM Alger in the final group fixture next week. A win against the Algerians will guarantee them passage to the quarters.

Zamalek on the other hand will be home against Al Ahli Tripoli.
