Gor Mahia have named squad for CAF Champions League preliminary round return match away to Equatorial Guinea’s Leones Vegetarianos Wednesday in Malabo without injured Rwandan striker Jacques Tiyisenge.

Tuyisenge picked a knock on his left knee following a clash with Zoo FC’s goalkeeper Martin Elungat during a Kenyan Premier League midweek fixture at Kericho’s Green Stadium Thursday and has been advised to take a week rest.

The 26-year old former Police FC striker was returning from another injury and opened scoring for the coach Dylan Kerr’s side in the match they won 4-2 against the hosts.

But he was pulled out in the second half after a nasty collision with the Ugandan keeper whose studs were showing.

“I have been advised by the doctor not to do anything until after one week so I have not been training.

“I look forward to returning to action as soon as possible,” Tuyisenge told Soka25east.

The 19-man team to Malabo leaves early morning Monday and will transit through Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The squad is similar to the one that beat Leones 2-0 in the first leg of the two legged encounter at Machakos’ Kenyatta Stadium on 10th February, but were rested against Zoo.

Notably faces in the team include Kevin “Ade” Omondi and Ivorian Ephrem Guikan, who scored in the first leg tie, Boniface Omondi and Sammy Onyango who netted against Zoo in the midweek match.

Ugandan-born Rwandan goal-poacher Meddie Kagere, George “Blackberry” Odhiambo and new signing Wesley Onguso will also make the trip.

Gor sent an advance delegation comprising Organizing Secretary Judith Nyangi and Chief Executive Officer Lordvick Aduda to Malabo yesterday to clear way for the rest of the team traveling Monday.

The chairman Ambrose Rachier and other officials including Treasurer Sally Bollo will accompany the team tomorrow.

Any draw or a 1-0 loss will see Gor sail through to the first round of the premium continental interclub competition where Mauritania’s ASAC Concorde or Tunisia’s Esperance du Tunis await.
