USM Alger managed 1-1 draw away to Ferroviario da Beira in the 2017 CAF Champions League quarter-final first leg in Beira, Mozambique Saturday.

Oussama Darfalou put the 2015 runner-up in the lead in the 63rd minute – turning the hosts’ defense inside out before striking home with panache.

Fabrice Kanda leveled for Beira with a fine header a minute to the final whistle.

USM carry home the crucial away goal for the reverse leg on 23rd September in Alger.

The aggregate winner sails to the semi-finals slated to begin on 29th September.
