Continental football body CAF on Thursday 21 announced a landmark sponsorship contract between them and Oil and Gas Company giants Total for the next eight years.
But one missing bit of the good news hailed by the CAF honcho Issa Hayatou was the figures involved that remained a top secret till today.
Soka25east.com can reliably confirm that the lucrative deal is worth $250,000,000 for the long duration – about $30,000,000 annually.
The money will support the ten principal CAF competitions starting with the 2017 Gabon African Cup of Nations now renamed “Total African Cup of Nations”.
With the expanded Club Championships (Champions League and Confederations Cup) starting next season, the boosted coffers will go along way in effecting the new changes, and also help ease financial burden on clubs who find it economically absurd to take part in the competitions.
CAF boasts other partners including; telecommunications company Orange, soft drink makers Pepsi.
