The Indomitable lions and the Comoros Island are ready to face each other in the second playing day of the qualifiers of the 2019 Total African Cup of Nations.
Programmed to take place on Saturday September 8 in Moroni, Comoros, the two teams are already in the country putting down finals touches to the clash.
The Cameroon delegation arrived Moroni early Friday September 7 morning led by the chairman of the Normalisation Committee of FECAFOOT, Barrister Duiedonne Happi.
Their arrival in Comoros comes after a four-day training in Nairobi and the challenge that exceeds that of the match will offer Clarence Seedorf his first match as a coach of an African national team.
Based at the Golden Tulip Moroni 4-star hotel Hotel, one of the highest hotels in the city, the lions will this Friday discover the Saïd Mohamed Cheikh international Stadium where they will meet Comoros as 3:00pm local time
On their part, the Coelacanths of Comoros are confident they can hold their own against the reigning African Champions. The dream of qualifying for CAN 2019 is still alive.
Talking to the press after the end of their preparations since Monday September 3, 2018, Fouad Bachirou who plays for Malmö FC said, there must prove that thery also have great players and make the biggest match possible.
“when the match starts its equal percentage of chances, that’s how I see football. I have always seen it in this angle. We do not start favorites, we know, but we are proud of our colors. What matters is what will be done on the field Saturday. We must prove that we also have great players and make the biggest match possible,” Fouad Bachirou said.
To Ali Mmadi, player of Villefranche, “We hung Ghana why not Cameroon (…) Everyone knows that Cameroon is a great African nation. It is also the champions of Africa in title, one does not receive anybody. We will be humble and try to embarrass them as much as possible. Everyone knows that it’s hard to play at home even for big teams. We rely heavily on our supporters, they are our “12th player” and we will do everything to give them a good result (…)
Regarding the qualification Ali Mmadi said, “we still believe. In football we do not know what can happen. When we see teams like Cameroon and Morocco, of course we are outsiders. Even Malawi, which is a small team compared to the other two, is also a very good team. We are the little finger of the group, but we have our chance and we will try to grab it.”
Cameroon, reigning champions are presently topping Group B with three points after a 1-0 win over Morocco in 2017 in the first leg of the first round of the qualifiers in Yaounde. Malawi is second after beating Comoros Island by 1-0.
