Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song on Tuesday announced a 24-man squad that will compete in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Libya and Mauritius.
Captain Vincent Aboubakar will lead the squad that also includes seasoned players like Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, Andre Onana, and Bryan Mbeumo.
Striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is absent from the squad that also features three newcomers including Junior Tchamadeu, Leon Bell Bell, and Faris Pemi Moumbagna who all play professional football in Europe.
“We are still building a strong team and we hope to achieve the results as well,” Song told a press conference in the capital Yaounde while announcing the squad.
The games will also help the team prepare well for their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations next year in Cote d’Ivoire, Song said.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will play Mauritius at home on Friday next week and then travel to Tunis where they will face Libya on November 21 in the first two games in Group D, which also includes Cape Verde, Angola, and Eswatini. ■
