Coton Sport beat Apejes FC 2-1 in Yaounde Wednesday to consolidate top spot in the Cameroon’s MTN Elite One Championship.
Serge Andoulou and Marius Mouandilmadji scored to put Coton Sport on the winning track with Joel Emmanuel Kofana reducing the deficit for Apejes from the spot.
The victory put Coton top of the classification table with 41 points – eight clear of runners-up UMS of Loum.
With 14 days of play to the end of the topflight, pundits have it that the Cotunnites are the favourite to win the 2017/2018 championship.
Meanwhile, in other results recorded through out the country, Union of Douala was beaten at home by Aigle Royal of Menoua 3-1 while Eding FC urged New Starts of Douala 1-0.
Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda and Stade Renard of Melong played to a virgin draw, same score recorded by Colombe of Dja and Lobo against Bamboutos of Mbouda.
A total of 15 goals were scored during the 20th day of play with Marius Mouandilmadji of Coton Sport topping the goal’s chart with 13 goals followed closely by Junior Rostand Mbaï of Dragon with 12 goals.
