Cameroon coach Hugo Broos has made it known that the Indomitable Lions’ 2018 Russia World Cup dreams are as good as over.
Broos watched haplessly as his side got hammered 4-0 by high flying Nigeria in Uyo Friday night.
“In all honesty, I think we are out of the World Cup race,” the Belgian said after the annihilation.
He added: “We need to win our last three matches and for Nigeria to lose all theirs and I don’t think that will happen.”
In the three remaining fixtures, they will have to face their Friday tormentors in the next coming days in Yaoundé.
His opposite equal Gernot Rohr savored the great win before the home crowd, “Every member of the team was in great form today, including the goalkeeper Ezenwa.”
“We will enjoy this victory, sleep over it and then tomorrow morning, we can start thinking about the match in Yaoundé Monday,” the German gaffer added.
Nigeria top group B of the qualifiers on 9 points – seven clear of the chasing pack consisting Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria.
The group winner will join other four in representing Africa in the biggest football stage next year in Russia.
