Cape Town City have signed Ugandan midfielder Allan Kateregga, the Premier Soccer League side confirmed on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old, who has played for AFC Leopards in Kenya and for top Ugandan side KCCA FC, has agreed a three-year deal with Blue and Gold army.
“Cape Town City is delighted to announce the signing of Ugandan international winger, Allan Kateregga,” the South African top side announced on their official twitter account.
The left footed midfielder will be hoping to prove a success at PSL giants despite not being the marquee signing fans have been craving.
“He will still need time to develop and settle in completely, but the happy family atmosphere in the City dressing-room will make things easier – a good example of this would be Edmilson’s quick adjustment to the squad,””said City boss John Comitis.
However, Comitis added that coach Benni McCarthy has confident with the new man to provide the thrust needed in attack.
“Overall, we’re happy Kateregga has decided to join City, and he’s looking forward to growing his game in Africa’s top league.”
Kateregga started his playing career in his native Uganda with Sports Club Victoria University where he featured prominently before making the switch to Kenya with Tusker FC and later AFC Leopards who loaned him to KCCA FC where the loan expired in December 31st last year.
