Cape Verde and Lesotho will not appear at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after playing to a goalless draw in their final Group L game at the Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde on Sunday.
With both sides holding a slim hope of qualification prior to kick-off, one would have expected amore attacking game but that was not to be.
Cape Verde controlled the possession stakes for the most part and dictated the flow of play, but their decision making in the final third was poor.
In fact, in the opening half the home side have 70 percent of the possession but only managed two shots on target.
Lesotho offered very little in terms of attacking flair and were mere spectators on the day.
The second half was more of the same with both sides extremely poor.
The result, combined with Group L’s other match which saw Tanzania beat Uganda 3-0 also on Sunday, means Lesotho finish second from bottom on six points while Cape Verde are last with five points.
Uganda topped Group L with 13 points while Tanzania finished second with eight points.
