CECAFA 2015 – Akram Salim the hero as Sudan wins Sudan derby to reach semis.

FT South Sudan 0 (3)-0 (5) Sudan

Goal keeper Akram Salim saved one penalty before scoring the final spot kick to hand Sudan the bragging rights in the Sudan Derby played on Tuesday 1 at the Addis Ababa Stadium.

The win sends Sudan to the semi finals of the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge where they will meet the winner between Kenya and Rwanda in the other quarterfinal match.

The much anticipated tie didn’t live up to the hype and by blow of the final whistle no team had seen the back the net of the other sending the match to straight penalties.

Sudan converted all their kicks with the Bright Stars missing the opener – they will however return home heads high having recorded two wins and reached the quarters contrary to their maiden appearance when they got knocked out at the groups stage.
