FT Burundi 1-0 Zanzibar, Ethiopia 0-1 Rwanda

The 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge kicked off on Saturday 21 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with two matches from group A and B on display.

Burundi and Zanzibar were the first to take to the field at the National Stadium in a low key encounter characterized by lack of brilliant moments.

But it was the Burundians who came out better courtesy of Didier Kavumbagu 39th minute goal – a precious goal they defended with their all to the last whistle as they go top of group “B” pending tomorrow’s clash between defending champions Kenya and Uganda.

In the second game, an off color Walia Ibex failed to impress in front of home fans falling 1-0 to CHAN 2016 hosts Rwanda.

Janeques Tusisenge scored the lone goal in the 54th minute to silence the home fans – the win is a morale booster to the Coach John McKinstry boys after a disappointing exit from the road to the 2018 World Cup.

The action continues tomorrow with Tanzania taking on Somalia before Kenya face off with Uganda in the main match of the day.
