Rwanda bounced back in style to thrash whipping boys Somalia 3-0 in a group “A” game to reach the last eight in the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
Amavubi needed the win to seal their spot in quarters after stumbling against Tanzania in their second group match which they lost narrowly 2-1 on Tuesday 24. The win takes them to six points same as Tanzania who have a match a t hand.
Yussufu Hbimana opened the goal fest in Awassa six minutes into the game before danger man Jacques Tuyisenge doubled the lead in the 50th minute after a spillage from Somalia keeper.
Seven minutes later, Hegman Ngomirakiza produced a fine technique, beating his marker in the box to strike home from a close range for the third and the final goal.
The loss is Somalia’s third on the trot, meaning they are out of this edition of the regional tournament.
The group leader will be decided tomorrow when host Ethiopia face Tanzania in the final match of the group.
