After months of bickering,infighting,no competition and uncertainty Cecafa finally met on the sidelines of the CAF Symposium hosted by Morrocco with the meeting held at the Sofitel Hotel in Rabat.
In attendance were Nick Mwendwa(Kenya),Muttasim Gaffar(Sudan),Francis Paul(South Sudan),Junedin Basha(Ethiopia), Vincent Nzamwita(Rwanda),Abdigani Arab(Somalia),Ndikuriyo Reverien(Burundi while Moses Magogo of Uganda and Souleiman Waberi were absent with apologies by virtue of being CAF Exco members.
The meeting seeking to put the Cecafa house in order started on a high note with accusations thrown around however that quickly settled as they sort to immediately embark on a road map to bring back stability in the region.
It was agreed that in three weeks a team comprising Nick Mwendwa,Junedin Basha,Moses Magogo will meet in Nairobi to lay down the plans ahead of their main congress meeting to be held in Sudan under the chairmanship of Muttasim Gaffar who promised to foot the bill even though he has been embattled with his own probems at the Sudan Federation that briefly led to FIFA suspending them.
The fate of Secretary General Nicholas Musonye was also discussed and it looks sealed as they seek appointment of another secrerary General .FKF President Nick Mwendwa proposed fellow Kenyan and FIFA master Patrick Onyango to take over the reigns but the decision was deferred until the congress meeting scheduled for Sudan capital Khartoum later in September.
One of the FA Presidents who was in attendance in the meeting but sort anonymity told soka25east.com “We are optimistic we will resolve this issues however the President Muttasim wanted us to meet after 90 days but we thought that would be impossible as we have been inactive for the past 2 years and we need to resolve issues immediately as our region is lagging behind “he said.
