Group “C”
As was expected from the group, money bags Azam FC of Tanzania are through to the last eight after two deserved wins. But who will join them from group “C”? The puzzle will no doubt be solved today when Uganda’s KCCA and South Sudan’s Malakia face off at the National Stadium.
Minnows Malakia are punching above their weight and to be contending for a place in the quarters with giants KCCA is in itself an achievement. They shocked Ethiopia’s Adama City 1-0 in their opener before being gunned down 2-0 by Azam FC.
The Mayor’s Boys, KCCA who were among the favorites of the group, have so for looked disjointed, they lost 1-0 to group leaders Azam before struggling to beat Adama City 1-0 via penalty; making today’s tie against Malakia a true test of character for the Sam Ssimbwa side.
Advantaged KCCA, only needs a draw of any nature to proceed to the next round as they enjoy a better goal difference. Ethiopia’s Adama City is already out of the tournament. The match kicks off at 2PM.
