Tanzanian side Azam FC humiliated Adama City 5-0 on Saturday to maintain their unbeaten run at the ongoing Cecafa Kagame Cup in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Kipre Tche Tche got off the mark in the seventh minute after scoring off a wonderful pass from Farid Musa. Tche Tche doubled Azam’s lead 12 minutes later from Erasto Nyoni’s freekick.
As Adama tried to find their feet with several tackles to win back possession, their efforts were dealt a huge blow when Eshetu Menna was handed a straight red by referee Issa Kagabo for stumping Musa in the 21st minute.
The eventual Dstv man-of-the-match Musa scored his side’s third goal in the 33rd minute to give Azam a comfortable 3-0 lead at half time against the 10-man Adama side.
A minute into the second half, Mudathir Yahya rose above the Adama defense to send a superb header past Yacob Fiseha to hand Azam a 4-0 lead.
Wendimeneh Zerihun could have netted a consolation goal for the Ethiopian side but his effort was punched away by the alert Azam goalkeeper Ali Mwadini.
Azam would seal victory in the 71st minute when Moges Tadese was handed a second yellow card after handling the ball in the box.
Defender Aggrey Morris converted from the spot to hand Azam a 5-0 win as Stewart Hall’s side registered maximum points from their Group C games to top the table and march into the last eight in style.
Azam had earlier stunned Ugandan side KCC 1-0 before seeing off Malakia 2-0 and remain the only side that has not conceded a goal at the regional tournament so far.
