Former Gor Mahia midfielder and Kenyan international Teddy Akumu scored the winning goal in the 84th minute to help his team beat KMKM 2-1 in an entertaining match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Zanzibari champions fell as early as the 7th minute when Khartoum’s captain Salah Eldin Osman Bila scored the opener before Matteo Saimon levelled matters in the 50th minute.
Akumu then netted the winning goal with a powerful shot outside the 18 yard box.
The scoreline means Al Khartoum joins Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia before the two teams meet on Friday to decide who tops the group.
In the other group A match Yanga are currently leading Djibouti Telecom 3-0 with a brace from Malim Busungu and an own goal from the Telecom defender with 77 minutes gone.
