Group “A” concludes today at the National Stadium with two mouth watering matches lined up for you.
The first match pit giants and tournament favorites Gor Mahia against group’s whipping boys Djibouti Telecom at 2PM, this will immediately be followed by another cracker between home side Yanga SC and debutants Al Khartoum of Sudan.
Al Khartoum leads the group with seven points same as second placed Gor Mahia, Yanga SC is third with six points; the top two are separated by goal difference. KMKM are fourth, Djibouti Telecom are last having lost all their three matches.
Gor, Khartoum and Yanga mathematically stand a chance of topping group “A” by close of business today, here’s how…
If Gor lose or draw against Telecom and Yanga beats Al Khartoum then the Tanzanians with top the group with nine points. If Khartoum gets the better of Yanga then they will emerge the winners of the group with nine points depending on how Gor performs.
Gor will have to beat Telecom with three or more clear goals to be sure of topping the group regardless of other results. A draw or a win for Yanga will be advantegious to “K’Ogalo” (if they beat Telecom by any margin).
The winner of the group will face the best qualifier, most likely Malakia of South Sudan in the last eight.
Gor welcomes back Ugandan Godfrey Walusimbi from injury but will miss the services of dependable duo of Khalid Aucho and Abouba Sibomana due to suspensions.
