Prolific Gor Mahia forward Michael Olunga is in the pole position for the golden boot award as the 41st edition of the Cecafa club championship heads to the knockout stage in Dar es Salaam,Tanzania.
Olunga has so far netted four times, just a goal ahead of the trio of Yanga’s Maalim Busungu,Azam’s Kipre Tchetche and Al Khartoum’s Osman Bilal who are all on three goals a piece.
Both the players in the chasing pack are part of their teams in the knockout stage.Olunga’s Gor Mahia will get to the stage first tomorrow at 2pm when they meet surprise package Al Malakia of South Sudan.Busungu’s Yanga and Tchetche’s Azam clash a day later in the third quarterfinal matches.
Amiss Tambwe of Yanga,John Bocco of Azam and Al Shandy’s duo of Eid Abubakar and Mohammed Margani are all on two goals and have realistic chances of finishing top.
KMKM’s Matheo Simon however would be stuck at 2 goals after his side bid bye at the group stages.
