Baraza la soka katika ukanda wa Afrika Mashariki na Kati CECAFA, lipo mbioni kuinua soka la wanawake baada ya kuzindua mashindano ya kwanza ya kikanda yatakayofanyika mwezi Agosti nchini Uganda.
Ukanda wa CECAFA una mataifa 11 ambayo ni pamoja na Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Zanzibar, Sudan Kusini, Sudan , Somalia, Djibouti na Eritrea.
Rais wa Shirikisho la soka nchini Uganda Moses Magogo amenukuliwa akisema maandalizi yanaendelea na kupongeza CECAFA kwa kuifahamisha mapema kuandaa michuano hiyo.
Haya yatakuwa mashindano ya kwanza na ya kihistoria katika kalenda ya CECAFA baada ya wito kutoka kwa wadau mbalimbali kutaka kuwepo kwa michuano hii kwa lengo la kuinua soka katika ukanda wa Afrika Mashariki na Kati.
Uganda ilipewa nafasi hii ya kuandaa michuano ya mwaka 2016 kutokana na juhudi zake za kuinua soka la wanawake na kuwa nchi ya kwanza barani Afrika kuwa na ligi ya wanawake.
Pamoja na hilo, timu ya taifa ya Uganda imekuwa hairodheshwi katika orodha ya timu bora duniani kwa kutoshiriki katika mashindano ya Kimataifa kwa zaidi ya mwaka mmoja uliopita.
Orodha ya mwezi Machi mwaka huu inaiweka Tanzania ya kwanza katika ukanda wa CECAFA ikifuatawa na Kenya.
Kenya itashiriki katika michuano ya soka ya Afrika kwa upande wa wanawake kwa mara ya kwanza, nchini Cameroon kati mwezi Novemba na Desemba mwaka huu.
