Gor Mahia will be officially crowned the 2017 Kenyan Premier League champions on 18th November in Kisumu, club’s president Ambrose Rachier has confirmed.
On the day, K’Ogalo will face Sony Sugar in the final week of the league.
With four matches to the end of the campaign, Gor have already sealed the title for a record 16th time.
“We will have made all the necessary arrangements and since we only had two options, we settled for Kisumu,” Rachier told Capital FM.
Club’s effort to secure more spacious Kasarani Stadium for the event failed to materialize.
Gor’s last coronation was in 2015 at Nyayo Stadium. The venue has since been closed for renovation.
K’Ogalo will represent the country in next year’s African Champions League.
Dylan Kerr’s charges have set their eyes on an improved performance show at the continental platform.
To that end, the club has started the process of keeping the team intact by renewing contracts of leading players.
Already Rwandan forward Jacques Tuyisenge, Ugandan defender Godfrey Walusimbi, midfielder Ernest Wendo and skipper Musa Mohammed have put pen to paper new deals with more to follow suit.
Rachier has also pledged to strengthen the squad further by bringing on board new faces that will help the team to achieve a target of reaching the tournament’s groups stage.
Gor Mahia remain the only club in the region to bag an African title following their 1987 triumph in the CAF Winners Cup, the present day Confederations Cup.
