After a disappointing 3-0 loss at the hands of the DRC,Ethiopia Walia ibex ensured they dont face early elimination with a hard fought goalless draw in a Group B match played today evening at the Stade Huye Stadium.
Earlier on the match had to be stopped after the floodlights went off but the LOC quickly restored the situation with the match resuming for a half time goalless draw.
Ethiopia next meet Angola and they must win the match and hope Cameroon lose to Congo DR by a larger margin for any meaningful progression to the last eight.
In the first match played earlier in the same group,DRC humiliated Angola 4-2 in an entertaining match with 18 year old Elia Meshack who scored the second goal being named man of the match.
Nelson Omba Munganga opened the flood gates before Elia added the second with Jonathan Bolingi Mpangi completing the first half rout.
Angolan Gelson reduced the defeciet in the 76th minute but Merveille Bope extended the lead with an 82nd minute strike. Angolan Yano pulled one back in a dramatic six goal thriller.
Tomorrow action shifts to the capital Kigali when Tunisia battle Nigeria in an early kick off with Niger entertaining Guinea later at the same stadium.
The group matches conclude on 27th January.
