The Confederations of african Football (CAF) yesterday gave a strong hint that Rwanda could host the 2023 African Cup of Nations after they were impressed by the Local organising Committee’s effort so far.
Speaking at a press conference at the Serena Hotel in kigali,CAF second vice President Kabale Kamara said that Rwanda has prooved of that they are capable of holding a big event.
‘We are very happy with the level of organisation in Rwanda Football and the support from their government. We have also seen that their facilities are good and the people are very passionate about football,” added Camara’
He further said that he was happy with the level of competition so far.
As CAF we are very happy that this tournament of CHAN keeps getting more and more competitive as can be seen by the last eight teams that have qualified for the quarter finals,” he added.H e also noted that Rwanda provided everything in time,internet,hotels,training facilities etc.
The tournament is hosted in four cities of Huye,Gisenyi,and Kigali.
he further said that CAF will maintain the criteria of using Zones to qualify as this gives mor representaion as compared to qualifications.
kenya is set to host the next edition of CHAN(2018) that will be the fifth with Gabon earmarked for 2017 Nations Cup as Camroon and Ivory Coast host the 2019 and 2021 editions of AFCON.
