Ethiopia Walia Ibex coach Yohannes Sahle has hinted at stepping down from his position as Head coach of the national team after what he referred to us “frustrations”
Speaking to Soka25east.com in Rwanda where his team participated in the ongoing African Nations Championship and were knocked out in the first round,Sahle said he felt tired and that his position was nolonger tenable.
“I am done with the team infact when I go back to Ethiopia I will step down because I really feel unappreciated after working so hard with very minimal preparations ahead of CHAN 2016.I took the position of coach last year and within three months I was had changed the team and ensured we qualified for CHAN 2016 a tournament that has only 16 teams and even big guns like Algeria,Egypt ,South Africa and defending champions Libya never qualified”
“The federation has not made things easier for me because I was expected to get results and yet we did not get adequate preparations only training for nine days and playing one friendly game yet most of the teams in the competition prepared adequately”Sahle told Soka25east.com
“It has not been easier for me and it was even disappointing that instead of coaching I was doing administrative duties before we left Addis Ababa I took upon myself to go the immigration office line up like everyone while trying to sort out the issue of passports for my players and even getting passport photos yet at the same time I was supposed to coach”
“I feel the federation has not given me ample support as the coach despite working so hard for the team and now I am the pariah and all blame is level on me because the fans do not know what I have undergone as coach”Sahle added
“I feel very tired and I think I am done on being the coach of Ethiopia as its work without appreciation.I have to go back to Ethiopia and reflect on my future after seating down with the federation and telling them how I feel”he concluded
Ethiopia lost their first game against DR Congo 3-0 before drawing 0-0 against Cameroon and they lost their last game to Angola 1-2 in Kigali.
Yohannes Sahle was appointed as head coach in April 2015 after Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto was sacked.
