CHAN 2016 PREVIEW-Tanzania’s Taifa Stars hope neighbours Uganda Cranes will pile no more misery in race for appearance in Rwanda

By Austin Oduor Otieno,

Tanzania Taifa Stars will have to forget the misery and humiliation they encountered in Alexandria in the AFCON qualifier where they lost 3-0 as they now have to put concentration top priority when they host high flying Uganda Cranes at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Saturday 20th at 8pm EAT. They meet in a Central-East Zone preliminary round 1st leg 6

The Uganda Cranes camp was boosted by the arrival of Benjamin Ochan, Martin Kiiza, Herman Wasswa and Erick Sekisamba who were involved in the Uganda Cup final and also BUL FC attacking midfielder Milton Karisa who was delighted of his call to the team. They join the team’s camp at Njeru in Jinja.

Coach Milutin Sredojevic is full of confidence and optimistic of continuing with the good performance when they play the hosts and neighbours Tanzania.

“I am absolutely satisfied with everyone in camp, we are in good spirit to put up a fight on Saturday” he told FUFA as reported on their official website.

Uganda would want to repeat the same when they eliminated Tanzania in the previous qualifier by an aggregate of 4-1 after winning 0-1 away and 3-1 at home. The cranes have qualified for the 2011 and 2014 editions but failed to go past the first round

Tanzania who had a disastrous campaign in the last two qualifying editions for CHAN were the first to qualify in the inaugural tournament in 2009 but failed to go past the first edition. They would want to feature in next year’s   tournament that will be hosted by another CECAFA member Rwanda.
