Ivory Coast captain Yao Serge N’guessan was a happy man after his goal killed any comeback hopes by the Indomitable Lions.
Yao scored a chicky loop in the 112th that left Cameroon keeper Nyama Hugo Patrick struggling to chase after the ball only to find it rolling towards the net.
‘ We did not expect to win by such a margin, I expected like 2-1 or 1-0 but this scoreline also shocked me, we are going to forget this result and prepare for our next match,’
In his part Ivorian coach Michel Dussuyer said that the boys played well in the first half but lost concentration in the second half. ‘I realized the short balls were not working, I kept on pressing my forwards to capitalize on set pieces and they played as per instructions, we have improved in this tournament from our loss to Rwanda’
The match also saw Atcho Hermann Junior Djobo named man of the match with his constant raids and footwork at the Cameroon goal area. He was on the score sheet scoring the second in the 101st minute.
ivory Coast will meet the winner between Tunisia vs Mali in the second semi final.
Tomorrow Zambia Chipolopolo battle it out against Guinea in Rubavu after Tunisia vs Mali early clash in Stade Kigali.
