Angola moved closer to qualifying for CHAN 2018 when they upset hosts Mauritius 1-0 on Sunday in an entertaining match at the Stade Anjalay in Belle Vue Maurel.

Palanca Negras begun the game like a house on fire firing from all cylinders their efforts paid off handsomely when Ricardo Job picked a long ball before firing past the hapless Mauritius keeper with minutes to the end of the first half.

The second half was a see saw affair as Mauritius looked for an equaliser in the Southern Zone secound round, first leg 2018 African Nations Championship but Angola held on thwarting all attempts from the marauding strikers who failed to hit the target despite pilling pressure.

It was a huge relief for Angola as the referee ended the game as they kept their 1-0 lead away from home.

The second leg match will be held at the November 11 Stadium in Luanda next weekend, with Angola heavily favoured to advance.

The aggregate winners will face either Madagascar or Mozambique in the final phase of qualification.
