Uganda Cranes’ 25-man squad has departed Kampala for Morocco this afternoon ahead of the CHAN 2018 finals eight days away.

Head Coach Desabre Sebastien dropped striker Daniel Isiagi and midfielder Godfrey Lwesibawa from a list of 27 that attended today’s last training at Bible University, Lubowa.

The Frenchman will trim the squad further to the final 23 after playing two warm-ups against Cameroon and Congo Brazaville.

The Cranes were Tuesday treated to a luncheon by the Head of State Hon. Kaguta Museveni in Rwakitura.

“Our teams need stamina; be focused and don’t get tired from running around. This idea of stamina and skill is important, the tactics come later,” the president said.

Museveni also got to meet and interact with Desabre, who was recently appointed as the new coach of the national team.

He later flagged the team off officially while wishing them success at the continental event that starts 12 January to 4 February in Morocco.

Uganda are pooled in group B of the tournament alongside Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia and Namibia and will play their matches in Marrakech.
