George ”Chicken” Lwandamina’s Chipolopolo will today at 15:00hrs Zambian time take on the Mambas of Mozambique. The Chipolopolo are coming off a disappointing 3-0 loss to Egypt in a friendly. This is the first of a two legged fixture which will determine who goes to the CHAN competitions in Rwanda next year.
The Chipolopolo tactician says he will take a cautious approach to the match even though Zambia boasts of a better record against the mambas having beaten them 13 times and drawn twice out of 15 games played between the two nations.
Zambia and Mozambique played out to a goalless draw in the two sides’ last meeting at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on 6th September 2014.
“This will be another game; it will be different from the matches we have played against them before or the ones we shall play in future. We cannot count on history to win us games but we have to give this match the seriousness it deserves,” Lwandamina said.Lwandamina added that the focus was on getting a good result and that his men were ready to face Mozambique.
“We have done very well in training especially because we have been together before the international friendly match against Egypt. The players fitness is good and they are ready for the challenge. ”
Lwandamina singled out teenage striker Conlyde Luchanga who earned his first call up to the senior national team for his determination in training.
“He is doing well with Lusaka Dynamos and if he can replicate his club form he can perform wonders for the national team. He is one for the future,” he said.
