Hosts Ethiopia rallied to hold Sudan 1-1 in the 2018 Kenya CHAN first leg last round qualifying tie at Hawassa International Stadium, Ethiopia Sunday.
After barren first half in which the visitors dominated, they finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute through Mohammed Hagari.
Ethiopia, however, managed bounced back through Abdraman Mubarake who restored parity with seven minutes left on the clock.
Sudan hosts the return in a week’s time with the winner qualifying for the continental showpiece played strictly by home-based professionals.
