By Austin Michel Kunsida,
As the second day of the 2016 African Nations Championship rolls into action in the group stages, today we witness Group B teams opening matches to be played at the Huye Stadium in Butare.
In this group, DR Congo will face Ethiopia in an early kick-off before Angola takes on Cameroon.
Soka25east.com takes a look what promises to be a battle for supremacy between the Walia Ibex as Angola are populary known and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
Bitter memories must still be fresh for the Lions who were ousted in the quarterfinals of the same competion in 2011 in a penalty shoot out that saw the Antelopes carrying the day 8-7 after regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw.
Currently, Cameroon are on position 57 on the Cocacola FIFA rankings while Angola are a distance 105.
Much as one may be tempted to lable this a Goliath vs David affair ,experience has shown that upsets in football are not uncommon nowdays.
Cameroon cannot forget that Angola’s greatest achievement was a World Cup slot in the 2006 FIFA World Cup Competition although they were eliminated in the group stages after drawing twice and loosing the other.
On the other hand , Cameroon will be looking to start their adventure on a positive note knowing that they are yet to win the CHAN title.
Head to head, the two teams have met 13 times in all competitions , with the Lions coming on top 5 times ,drawing 7 and loosing a single game.
