Two worthy giants of Zambia Football Zesco United and Nkana will go toe to toe in the Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield on Saturday 26 January 2019 at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
This year’s Charity Shield will serve as an opener to the 2019 MTN FAZ Transition League pitting the 2018 League Champions Zesco United against the winners of the 2018 Barclays Cup Nkana Football Club.
The rivalry between the two teams has grown and despite being drawn in separate streams on the local front, Zesco and Nkana have been drawn together in Group C of the Total CAF Confederations Cup.
Nkana midfielder Chisamba Lungu assured the Nkana fans that Zesco won’t have it easy tomorrow.
“Where we have to be hard we have to be hard because it’s business as usual. My kids are expecting a parcel at home so I will do my very best. We promise to give the best game of the season,” said Chisamba.
Nkana have enjoyed good form over Zesco United in the last four meetings with the Kitwe giants winning two of those matches.
Veteran defender Joseph Musonda knows how important such games are.
“Football is about planning, and the way we plan will give us a result at the end of the day. It is going to be a hard game, we have new players but they are very fit. Anyone can play so we are very prepared for the game tomorrow,” Musonda said.
