Experienced gaffer Elijah Chikwanda has officially taken charge of struggling Super League outfit Nakambala Leopards following the departure of Albert Mphande who was sacked on Monday.
Nakambala who sit in 16th position on the league standings, sacked Mphande after failing to turn the team’s fortunes around and a run of 10 games without collecting maximum points.
In a bid to secure their Super League status for next season, the club has since engaged the experience former Napsa Stars and Kabwe Warriors trainer who has since arrived in Mazabuka and took the team through its paces on Wednesday morning ahead of Sunday’s away fixture at fellow relegation-battlers Buildcon FC in Ndola.
Chikwanda was been unattached until his appointment having started the season in charge of bottom-placed Mufulira Wanderers before being axed last October.
The Sugar Boys have endured a torrid 2019/20 campaign as they sit two places above the drop zone with just 17 points from 24 matches.
