Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) honcho Mr. Andrew Kamanga has let the cat out of of the bag – revealing that soon Chipolopolo will have a new Coach.
Kamanga was reacting to the Africa World Cup Qualifiers draw released on Friday in Cairo, Egypt – placing Zambia in the group “B” of death alongside the Super Eagles of Nigeria, resurgent Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and high flying Desert Foxes of Algeria.
As underdogs in the group, the new sheriff in town says, Chipolopolo will have to double their efforts to deliver, and proper preparations is one way towards the target.
“I always work better as an underdog since we have a lot to prove and will work extra hard to deliver,” Kamanga said.
“Football results are normally based on preparations and psyche at a point in time. This is our area of concern for now,” He added.
“Our focus is to get a GOOD COACH SOON who can motivate the players as this is a once in a life time chance to showcase our football,” stressed the business mogul.
“If you look at our group it’s only Zambia that has not been to the World Cup, the rest have. The motivation for us to deliver is very high and the expectations from Zambians remain even higher. The task at hand is not insurmountable.” He concluded.
The 2012 Nations Cup champions are currently under George “Chicken” Lwandamina who also doubles up as the Coach of Zambia Super League reigning champions Zesco United.
He took over from caretaker Coach Honour Janza in June 2015. Under his reign, Chipolopolo has had a mixed bag of results; despite taking the team to the World Cup qualifiers group stage, he has come under heavy criticism for crushing out of the road to AFCON 2017, Gabon.
At the club level, “Chicken” has scaled new heights – bagging the league title back to back and qualifying Zesco to the CAF Champions League group phase for the first time, and winning their opener 3-2 against mighty Al Ahly of Egypt last weekend.
