By Agnes Amondi,
Makolanders opened the Kenya Women’s Premier League (KWPL) season in style as they thumped Mathare United Women 3-0 on Saturday morning in a zone A fixture at the Camp Toyoyo grounds.
After a cagey first half that saw both sides coy of giving away too much as they analysed each other, decorated Kenyan international Christine Nafula had other ideas.
With renewed vigour from the break, she opened her account in the 69th minute to hand the Rishadu Shedu charges the lead.
Three minutes later, Nafula doubled the tally before Nyarotso Olwichi bagged all the three points with a 78th minute goal.
Makolanders lead zone A. This is the only fixture from the region as the other ties were suspended due to players commitment to the national side Harambee Starlets.
Up next for Makolanders is Kayole Starlets at Camp Toyoyo on March 22 as Mathare United Women will hope to bounce back against Kibera Girls Soccer Academy at the same venue.
