PRESS RELEASE
Regarding agreements reached during the FKF Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday (Friday),misleading information has evidently been given to and reported in the media
concerning the number of teams in the Kenyan Premier League next year.
A key item at yesterday’s AGM was the reinstatement of the Kenyan Premier League as the top-tier league which was agreed without
conditions during the AGM.
The agenda item read as follows …That if deemed fit, the General
meeting recognizes Kenyan Premier League Limited as the entity mandated by Football Kenya Federation to run and manage the Top tier League within the pyramid of Football Kenya Federation.
Moreover, any conditions on league size or relegation/promotion would have violated the principles of sporting integrity as such crucial
issues should be decided before the league kicks off and definitely not when some teams have only five matches left in the season.
Consequently, matters such as the future league size, relegation/promotion and other key issues are to be agreed and included in a FKF-KPL Memorandum of Understanding.
Sent on behalf of the Governing Council.
Jack Oguda
Chief Executive Officer
Kenyan Premier League.
