Club Africain has completed the signing of Ajax Cape Town defender Lawrence Lartey on a three year deal,the club has confirmed.
Lartey who joined Ajax from Ghana’s AshGold in January 2015 hardly featured for the club in his the two seasons he spent in South Africa.
The Tunisia giants inquired on his availability and have acquired his signature after the player refused to extend contract with Ajax.
The 24-year-old is remembered back home for helping his former side Ashanti Gold win league honours in the 2014/15 season and was subsequently selected for the Ghana Premier League Team of the Season for his outstanding performances throughout the season.
A tough-tackling defender captained the Ghanaian U20 team at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup, where they won a bronze medal after beating Iraq 3-0 in the third/fourth place play-off. Lartey went on to represent and captain Ghana at U23 level. He made his full international debut for the Black Stars in September 2015, when they defeated Congo Brazzaville 3-2 in an international friendly.
