Comoros played to a 1-1 draw with a strong Gabon line-up in Tuesday evening’s international friendly played in Tunis,Tunisia.
Comoros were the brighter side of the two at the start as both Youssof M’Changama and Djamel Baker threatened the Gabon goal inside the first fifteen minutes with shots only to see their efforts go just wide.
Gabon through Meye me Ndong threatened in ten minutes later but his close-range shot was blocked well by Ali Ahamada.
In the 23rd minutes Djamel Baker slotted past Ovono Ebang to give Amir Abdou’s side a deserved lead against Gabon who were dogged in defence.
Staring defeat in the face, Gabon looked to push for an equalizer, but it was Comoros who looked to be the stronger of the two in the second half as Djamel Bakar and Ben Mohammed wreaked havoc on the Gabon defense.
Meye Mendong scored an equalizer in the 64th minute with a fierce shot to Islanders dismay.
Comoros thought they had won the game in the 70th minute when they were awarded a penalty but Fodou Mohammed missed the chance.
However Gabon finally did start to creep forward and Ndoubou Alexander nearly scored his second goal for his national team but his 77th minute header off a corner kick sailed above the crossbar.
Comoros tried to muscle their way through a strong, excellently-arranged Gabonese defence in the final minutes of the game, but without success.
