Cameroon coach Hugo Broos believes 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will be a difficult task.

The Indomitable Lions will open their campaign aganist Chile and must avoid defeat against the South Americans in their first Group B match.

But Cameroon are counting on their recent better record and will be making a return after 14 years absense with  bitter memories of Marc Vivien Foe and the defeat in the final aganist France.

Broos anticipates a hard contest and has put it clear that he will be using the tournament as part of preparations for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“Our group is the hardest as it consists Germany and Chile. It will be difficult for us to finish first or second because we have to beat Germany the World Champions and Chile the champion of South America,” said Broos.

” This group will be very good for us to have this experience, “he added.

Broos also has given his prediction saying that the final will be between Chile and Portugal.

“If Chile is champion of South America it means that they are better than Brazil, Argentina and Colombia (rival of today’s friendly game). Chile must have a very, very good team and we must be well prepared to deal with it, “he said.

The Confederations Cup will kick off on Saturday, June 17 when hosts Russia take on New Zealand at 18:00 local time (16:00 BST).Their Group A rivals Portugal and Mexico will then clash the following day.

The eight-team tournament is held the year before each World Cup to give the host country an opportunity to test their facilities and provisions ahead of the main event.

It features the champions of each confederation – decided through competitions such as the European Championship and Copa America – as well as the World Cup hosts and the reigning world champions
