Ahead of the 11th edition of African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), the Black Queens of Ghana will engage Kenya, Zambia and South Africa in an international friendlies.
This comes on the heels of an extensive deliberation between the GFA Normalization Committee, the Black Queens Technical team and budgetary support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The WAFU women champions are expected to jet out of the country on October 30 to Zambia where they will play the She-Polopolo in an international friendly on November 3.
On November 5, the team will travel to Kenya where they are expected to play the Harambee Starlet in a friendly game on November 7.
The Black Queens will return to Ghana on November 9 to complete preparations for the championship with a friendly match against Bayana Bayana of South Africa before the start of the competition on Saturday November 17.
Ghana is housed in Group A Algeria, Mali and Cameroon.
Holders Nigeria is placed in Group B with South Africa, Kenya and Zambia.
Teams in Group A will be based in Accra with teams in Group B lodging in Cape Coast.
Ghana will open their campaign against Algeria on November 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium with kick-off at 3:30PM.
This year’s edition staged in the West African nation for the first time, serves as the qualifiers for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The three top teams will qualify for the World Cup to be held in France next year.
