Ferebory Dore’s solitary goal earned Congo-Brazzaville a 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Sunday afternoon.
The Group E encounter was played at the Stade Municipal de Kintele in the Congo’s capital city, Brazzaville.
Congo had already been eliminated, while Guinea had stunned the likes of Zambia and Kenya to win Group E and qualify for their maiden AFCON finals.
The two teams were unable to find the back of net in the first-half and ultimately, the referee blew the whistle for half-time.
However, the deadlock was broken in the 81st minute when Ferebory Dore gave Congo the lead. This was also his fifth Group E goal.
As a result Congo-Brazzaville finished second with nine points – one behind Guinea-Bissau.
